“My preferred medium of work is oil colour, sometimes in combination with other media. Using Brushes and the pallet knife, I try to find a fine balance between naturalistic and abstract elements.”
“Inspired by African culture and its people, the vibrant colours of the continent and the timeless existence of life, each of my paintings describes the longing for and seeking of a truth that we all share but cannot grasp.“
ABOUT
I was born in 1980 in Germany. I am of German and Iranian origin and have spent my childhood living between the two countries which led to my identification as a “global citizen” from a very young age. Growing up I always had a keen interest in art and design, creating hundreds of drawings and paintings. I started painting on canvas at the age of 14 and art always stayed an important part of my life going forward.
In 2000 however I decided against a higher education in the creative field and began to study natural science, graduating with a master’s degree in Biology in 2006.
I am often asked how art and science fit together and my answer is, that both require very much an interest in the detail of the world surrounding us. The observation of that detail is vital to both a scientist and an artist, while the former is interested in researching and its function in an objective way the latter is interested in expressing it subjectively.
In 2006 I met my husband while traveling through South Africa, which led to my relocation in 2008.
Today I live together with my husband and my daughter in Hout Bay, Cape Town. I have since left the field of science behind and now follow my passion for creating art.

“Coming to Africa for the first time I instantly felt the deep spiritual energy, the magic and mysticism that is all around and still naturally embedded in its people’s lives. In Africa where people do not need much in order to laugh, sing and dance, where drums beat and ancient stories are told, where the soil is red and dusty and where spirits are still very much alive, life often seems timeless and minutes and hours lose their meaning. It is a place where art has always been a way of life and self-expression, where bodies are painted and adorned with colorful clothing and jewelry, showcasing ones culture and tradition.”
“I had always been deeply interested in the observation and the function of the physical world around me, however I have also been equally fascinated by the mystical elements of human existence from a young age. The ”something” that can only be felt with the heart but not seen with the eye, the world behind the veil of the physical reality always attracted my attention, creating an important aspect of my art. “
